    [NEW ALBUM] Shenzhen-based instrumental rock act attosec (阿托秒) has signed with indie label Random Forest (随机森林) and released their debut full-length album, “The Last Optimist”, on August 28. Defying rigid genre boundaries, the band fuses the complex rhythms of math rock, the driving intensity of progressive core, and the improvisational fluidity of jazz fusion with the rhythmic pulses of footwork and electro. They deconstruct the structures of math rock through icy, digital timbres, balancing cerebral technicality with immersive atmospheric builds and melodic resonance. The name attosec is derived from “attosecond,” a unit of time equal to 10⁻¹⁸ seconds.

    Marshall has unveiled “KEEP LIVE MUSIC ALIVE” at Chengdu Eastern Suburb Memory, marking the brand’s first global music culture initiative and its first-ever physical exhibition in China. The event features a dedicated Jimi Hendrix exhibition, highlighting the legendary guitarist’s historic and enduring connection with Marshall. It also traces Marshall’s journey from its founding in London in 1962 through more than six decades alongside the evolution of live rock music. Five distinctive acts took the stage for an energetic lineup of live performances: Fayzz, Characterless (性格缺失), HYPER SLASH (超级斩), STOLEN (秘密行动), and Second Hand Rose (二手玫瑰). Fostering grassroots community connections across China, the event partnered with iconic livehouses and venues nationwide — including SCHOOL (Beijing), OKOK (Shanghai), VOX (Wuhan), and The Little Bar (Chengdu) — bringing regional music scenes together through curated flea markets, showcases, and community activations.

  • THE STAGE 演出音乐节 – AUG. 2026 – WAY THE DINO SCREAM

    [TOUR] Way the Dino Scream (恐龙怎么叫) is a Gen Z indie emo band formed by young musicians from Wuhan and Changsha, China. Emerging as a standout act in the current emo revival, their sound defies easy categorization. Drawing a quirky connection between prehistoric dinosaurs and today’s youth, the band deconstructs heavy themes like life, death, love, and growing up through a playful lens, frequently weaving internet memes into their lyrics to soften the gravity of it all. Drawing musical inspiration from acts such as Hom Shenhao (Touming Magazine), Chinese Football, Forest, and Weezer, the band follows a simple ethos: “Complex arrangements don’t always need brooding themes.” They remain true to their instincts and the passion that brought them together in the first place. In 2026, they released their debut EP, “The Schoo Day We Spent With a Brachiosaurus” (校园里有长颈龙的日子), through their own imprint, The Wallers. The opening track, “Intro” opens with fuzzy, radio-like spoken-word dialogue, establishing the “dinosaur” motif that runs throughout the EP. Fresh off several dates across the Greater Bay Area, the band is embarking on the next leg of their tour on August 13, taking them to Kaili and Chengdu before wrapping up at Nuts Livehouse in Chongqing.

  • THE CULTURE 品牌合作 – AUG. 2026 – SYSTEM X REDNOTE

    Red Note (小红书) is launching a seven-day, seven-night riverside party on the banks of the Huangpu River in Shanghai, China. In partnership with SYSTEM, Red Note has transformed a secret base into a surreal school setting featuring three electronic music stages: a roller-skating rink, a hidden dance club, and the principal’s surveillance room. Guests can follow three different sound-led routes, moving through 16 freely accessible areas, each designed around a different musical style. By day, the gates remain firmly closed; only after nightfall do the entrances briefly open. The secret base officially opens on August 14.

    小红书即将在中国上海的黄浦江边开启一场七天七夜的夜游派对。SYSTEM助力小红书，在一所变身为学校的秘密基地里，把旱冰场、秘密舞厅与校长监控室化为三个电子舞台。在三条不同的探索路径上循声前行，经过16个可以自由探索的区域，进入到不同音乐风格的空间。白天，大门始终紧闭，只有夜幕降临，入口才会短暂打开。8月14日起，秘密基地正式开启。

  • THE STAGE 演出音乐节 – AUG. 2026 – CRAZY VIBEZ

    [SHOWCASE] Taking place on Sunday, August 16, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, the experimental music concert “CRAZY VIBEZ” (疯狂电模) will be held at the Sunken Plaza Multi-Function Hall of the Tianqiao Impression Museum in Beijing, China, located directly across from Omni Space. Moving beyond traditional forms of emotional expression, the performance focuses on the raw physical qualities of sound. By treating instruments as sound-generating installations, the artists incorporate the friction between nylon strings and metal, hardware feedback, and environmental noise to explore the boundaries and unpredictability of sound itself.

    Lineup:
    Hanhai — A graduate of the Fine Arts Department at Beijing Film Academy, Hanhai has worked on the art direction of major visual projects including “The Wandering Earth II” and “Yao-Chinese Folktales”. His practice bridges electronic music and abstract visual art.
    Yuting Wu — An electronic producer and sound artist whose work spans film, dance, and commercial sound design, Wu focuses on spatial audio and interactive live performance.
    Nian Yongxin — A multidisciplinary creator who began making independent music in 2021, Nian specializes in film scoring and soundtrack composition.
    Loop Fighter — The experimental side project of Lao Zhai. Built around hardware synthesizers, Loop Fighter frequently performs in art museums and theater spaces, exploring ambient post-rock and experimental noise.

    [SHOWCASE] As emo once again emerges as a defining force in youth culture, China’s emo scene marks its 20th anniversary. From 2006 to 2026, a dedicated community has spent two decades transforming emo from an underground expression into a cross-generational cultural home. Li Xiaoquan of TOOKOO wrote: “From QQ, MSN, and WeChat to online forums, MySpace, Douban, Red Note, and Douyin — through 7,300 sunrises and sunsets, those once-restless youths have grown into adulthood. Do you still remember those promises? As the bells ring once again, hold on to who you are and set off once more. In our own way, let us remember those we’ve lost along the journey and welcome a new generation of friends. Whenever you feel lost, please come home. Looking at these hearts shaped just like yours, the songs that belong to us will eventually echo across the stage once again.” Tickets are now on sale for the Beijing stop of the “King-Size Emoride 20th Anniversary Reunion Showcase”, taking place on August 15.     [NEW EP] Formed in Wuhan, China in 2025, Sullenboy is a DIY emo/hardcore band inspired by Title Fight, Basement, Turnover, and Fiddlehead. Named after a Fiddlehead song, the band recently released their debut EP “Sun & Moon”. Reflecting on the band’s origins, Sullenboy shares: “For many years, we’ve been listening to emo, pop punk, hardcore, and indie rock, while constantly watching live performances from our favorite bands on YouTube. Seeing people stage diving, singing along, and throwing themselves into the crowd together, we often imagined what it would feel like to one day stand on a stage like that ourselves. Eventually, we realized that instead of constantly talking about the bands we loved, we should just start a band of our own.” That idea became the beginning of Sullenboy — a band born from a longing for the live experience and a deep love for the music that inspired them. They remain fascinated by the energy, sense of community, and DIY spirit at the heart of hardcore culture. Rather than focusing on genre labels, Sullenboy cares more about writing songs that honestly reflect their own experiences and creating live shows where people can connect with one another.

    [NEW SINGLE] Zoo Gazer (动物园钉子户) have released their new single “Butterfly”. Reflecting on the track’s inspiration, the band describes it as capturing the delicate moment before a butterfly comes to rest: “When we try to build a new connection with someone, aren’t we just like a butterfly hovering in mid-air? Constantly overthinking, guessing, testing the waters, and beating our wings without pause. Before landing, we never know what comes next—so we are filled with anticipation, anxiety, and a quiet helplessness, circling repeatedly until we finally settle on a flower.” Formed in 2017 in Xuzhou, Jiangsu, China, Zoo Gazer seamlessly blends elements of shoegaze, indie pop, and noise pop.     [FESTIVAL] The 4th edition of “YunNanMo” (雲喃默), Yunnan’s premier indoor instrumental rock festival, has been officially announced. The festival will take place on September 12, 2026, at Modern Sky Lab Kunming. Under the theme “Silent Rocks, Resonating Waves,” YunNanMo returns for its fourth consecutive year. Deeply rooted in Yunnan, China, the indoor festival has grown from a small local project into a key platform for instrumental music in the region, building a strong reputation through years of support from local audiences. Organized by ONE FOR ALL, the festival celebrates the essence of instrumental rock — emotional storytelling expressed purely through instruments beyond the boundaries of vocals.     [NEW SINGLE] Duo NeoNew are set to release their debut full-length album “Yiyiyaya” on July 29, with the album’s second single and title track out now. For the track, NeoNew collaborated with manga artist Lu Ran, who created a companion comic using black-and-white panels with subtle color accents to bring the song’s imagery to life. Formed in Beijing in 2023 by Way and Ye Yang, NeoNew are currently signed to bié Records. Blending electronic synths, psychedelic rock, experimental instrumentation, and tribal percussion, the duo creates a sound that is psychedelic, eccentric, and deeply rooted in a “jungle” atmosphere — weaving glitch aesthetics, instrumentation, and vocals into a spiritual sonic world.

    [NEW ALBUM] Chengdu-born, Berlin-based electronic producer Heling (aka MaoMao) has released his new album “DangYang” (Ripples). Neither aggressive nor overwhelming, the album moves with a clear sense of intention, existing in a fluid space between stillness and motion. Neither strictly designed for the dance floor nor intended purely for meditation, DangYang avoids dramatic peaks, instead guiding physical perception through gentle, sustained low frequencies and spatial textures that spread like ripples across water. It is a quiet record, carrying a serene confidence that feels in no hurry to explain itself. The album is co-released by Oriental Order and Muffle Truffle. Founded in Chengdu in 2022, Oriental Order collaborates with musicians and visual artists to curate immersive sound experiences beyond the mainstream, while Muffle Truffle serves as Heling’s personal imprint.

Formed by the original members of Jiojio — Banjiu, Xiaoyan, Xingyu, Xiaohua, and Awei — Fimoo exists alongside their original project. Following the album release, the band has officially launched their China tour.

Rather than pursuing flawless perfection on stage, they seek a deeper connection with audiences through the raw and unfiltered energy of their live performances.     [NEW ALBUM] Hailing from Hangzhou, China, electronic duo Circle Arena has released their debut concept album “Interlinked” via CaoTai Music. Founded in 2022, the duo consists of Mingyue, who focuses on philosophical songwriting and lyrics, and Wang Zhehui, who focuses on sound experimentation and production. Defining themselves as a sci-fi electronic act centered around synthesizers and drum machines, Circle Arena explains that the album’s “sci-fi feeling” was not a predetermined direction, but rather a subconscious thread they discovered after completing the record. “Interlinked” explores the moment when the boundary between the external world and the inner self dissolves — moving from questions about solitude toward the transcendent realization that “I am the world itself.” The album artwork features a photograph taken in Iceland by French installation artist Vincent Leroy. Drawn to its striking sci-fi aesthetic and its connection with their sound, the band contacted Leroy directly via email to obtain official licensing. The process became a meaningful source of encouragement during the later stages of the album’s creation.

    [新专] 中国杭州双人乐队Circle Arena（环形竞技场）日前发行了首张概念专辑《Interlinked》，乐队签约于厂牌草台回声。乐队成立于2022年，成员为明月（偏哲学思辨、词曲）与王浙辉（偏声音实验、制作）他们将自己的音乐风格定义为一支科幻电子乐队，以合成器、鼓机等电子设备为主；“科幻感”并非他们预先设定，而是在专辑完成后回溯发现到自己潜意识在音乐里的统一投射。专辑《Interlinked》讲述外部世界与内在自我边界消失的瞬间，从怀疑孤独的存在到发现“我即世界本身”的消融与合一。专辑封面来自法国装置艺术家Vincent Leroy在冰岛拍摄的作品，因其科幻气质与专辑高度吻合，是乐队成员主动邮件联系后获取的授权，这也成为他们创作后期的重要鼓励。

    [CONFERENCE] The 5th LIVE POWER AWARDS (LPA) has extended its fan voting period to seven months, running from June 1 through December 31, 2026. Audience members can now vote instantly after attending a show. The SHOWSTART app will automatically detect users’ 2026 concert history within their Showstart ticket wallet, using those records to determine their eligible voting options and available vote count. Founded five years ago by China Taihe Music Group’s SHOWSTART app, the LPA selection process combines live performance data, industry jury evaluations, and fan votes—aiming to build a professional and independent music award system.

    [产业会] 第五届 LIVE POWER AWARDS 独立音乐盛典近日调整了乐迷投票周期，现已拉长至7个月，即从2026年6月1日持续至12月31日。在此期间，观众每看完一场演出，就可即时参与投票。秀动APP将自动读取用户在秀动票夹内 2026 年的所有演出票务记录，以此作为投票选择范围与可投票数。LPA在五年前由中国太合音乐集团旗下秀动APP创办，其评选基于现场演出数据、业内评审与乐迷投票，旨在推动一套专业且独立的音乐评奖体系。

    [FESTIVAL] The two MOSS MUSIC SEASON (Wuhan, China) shows, originally scheduled for July 11 and 12, 2026, have been postponed to August 1 and 2. Due to scheduling conflicts, The Top Floor, Wasted LAIKA, and Ayim will no longer perform and have been replaced with an exciting, refreshed lineup. The festival will feature two stages: MOSS STAGE and ROLLING STAGE. The August 1 lineup includes The Brickska, Instinkto Industrio, STEELY HEART, GOINDOWN, GouMao & Band, Lonely Leary, JahPhy, Joyside, Kawa, STOLEN, and Jump Goat. The August 2 lineup features Hardcore Raver in Tears, Spring Hill Post Tide, AnimalFarm, HappyWheel, HYPER SLASH, Kamerata, Post Radio, SinceTMRW, Sky King Jack, WHITE+, Aberration, and YunYun. The organizers have announced that fans who refunded their original July 11/12 tickets and repurchased tickets for the August 1/2 shows will receive a special gift package upon entry—including the official festival magazine “MOSS, Sweet Dreams”, a paper fan, and an exclusive Sardine T-shirt (limited to 1,000 pieces, available on a first-come, first-served basis).

    [音乐节] 原定2026年7月11/12日的中国武汉MOSS野苔音乐季的两场演出，因故延期为8月1日和8月2日。顶楼的马戏团、丢莱卡、阿依木这三支乐队因档期原因无法继续参演，替换了更多崭新阵容。音乐季设MOSS STAGE和ROLLING STAGE两个舞台。8月1日阵容：板砖、本能實業、钢心、GOINDOWN、狗毛&乐队、孤独的利里、佳非JahPhy、Joyside、Kawa、STOLEN秘密行动、跳山羊。8月2日阵容：白纸扇、春山后潮、動物莊園AnimalFarm、海皮威尔、HYPER SLASH超级斩、Kamerata卡梅拉塔、Post Radio后电台、SinceTMRW始于明天、Sky King Jack、WHITE+、越轨、云云。主办表示，原7.11/7.12退票后重购8.1/8.2场次的观众，入场除了能领到《MOSS，做梦愉快吧》场刊和纳凉扇外，还会额外获得沙丁T恤1件（共1000件，领完即止）。

    [NEW ALBUM] Carsick Cars – Aha
    In September 2017, the Chinese rock band Carsick Cars returned with the original members (vocalist/guitar: Zhang Shouwang, bass: Li Weisi, drums: Li Qing). They released the band’s fourth album this summer, or it can be said that it is the third album co-created by the original lineup of three people. The album is called “Aha”, and the iconic guitar noise of Carsick Cars continues. They disassembled and integrated nine songs created between 2018 and 2023 to form a new and unique dynamic balance. The lyrics are no longer written straightforwardly, but in a narrative method that combines reality. It has achieved a different way of expression from the past but still has the background of Carsick Cars.
